SESC hosted a session with the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) for district and school leaders to explore new resources available to support effective implementation of local curriculum supported by high-quality instructional resources (HQIRs). The participants reviewed the Curriculum Implementation Framework and the Curriculum-Based Professional Learning Guidance Document. They also discussed the importance of districts offering curriculum-based professional learning (CBPL) experiences along the framework for structuring of professional learning cycles. Updates were provided on Kentucky Academic Standards for Science Resources, the Science Instructional Resources Consumer Guide, KAS for Visual and Performing Arts, and KAS for Health Education and Physical Education. Schools are seeking additional ways to cultivate a positive school climate and culture, address problematic behavior, and increase the social-emotional behavior competencies of students. Restorative Practices (RP) is a whole-school practice that emphasizes prevention and positive responses to challenging behavior that can be used across all settings and with all stakeholders.
Day 1 of a 2-day series. Participants will be able to: * Define key features of common Restorative Practices (RP) strategies * Identify strategies to integrate a continuum of Restorative Practices (RP) within a PBIS framework * Integrate selected Restorative Practices into discipline flow charts * Use provided implementation fidelity checks of selected RP practices * Identify implementation strategies that will facilitate an effective roll-out of restorative practices within schools.

Southeast South-Central Educational Cooperative would like to partner with your district in supporting and coaching MSD teachers via a combination of virtual and in-person meetings. This MSD Cadre will focus on increasing the teacher’s abilities and retention rate. The project goal is to develop effective MSD teachers who provide high quality instruction to students with moderate and severe disabilities. Monthly support and coaching as needed will focus on increasing the teacher’s knowledge level and application of effective teaching practices with focus on literacy instruction. A focus on positive academic and behavioral outcomes for all students is integrated in each session. Participants will gain instructional strategies for implementation with diverse learners. Additionally, resources and interactive follow-up/homework discussion opportunities will be embedded into the series for practice and implementation of skills and recognition of successes.

As part of the SESC-ARP Transition Project, mini-grants are available for high school teachers of students with disabilities during the 23-24 school year. These grants will allow teachers to design Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to meet the needs of individual classrooms. Teachers need only to complete an application explaining the need and how it will be met. If approved, classrooms may receive up to $750 to address transition activities.
