Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD)
One method to determine the presence of a Specific Learning Disability under Kentucky’s regulatory guidelines requires the maintenance of a set of tables published by the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE). In partnership with the KDE, SESC coordinates the maintenance and content of Kentucky’s Learning Disability Tables. These tables contain the set of instruments Kentucky recognizes as providing reliable and valid measures of aptitude and achievement that align with the eight (8) areas of specific learning disability. An SESC consultant chairs a panel of experts from across the commonwealth, recognized for their leadership and advocacy in the identification of children with Specific Learning Disabilities.
