SBDM
Kentucky implemented School Based Decision Making in 1990 in an effort to promote shared leadership among those who are closest to the students. Membership of each school council includes parents, teachers, and an administrator of the school. The council has the responsibility to set school policy and make decisions outlined in statute, which shall provide an environment to enhance student achievement and help to meet the goals established in KRS 158.645 and KRS 158.645. SESC provides a consultant to assist schools with annual trainings, policy development, development of the Consolidated School Improvement Plan, and principal selection trainings.
