Message From Our Executive Director

On behalf of Southeast/South-Central Educational Cooperative (SESC), I welcome you to our website. We are extremely proud of our SESC member districts and the distinguished work they do to impact the lives of so many students. We at SESC are proud to serve educators across our region and state. We strive to elevate educational excellence by providing services to support our member districts in a kaleidoscope of ways. By working to tailor our services based upon your specific needs, we feel confident we are assisting you in providing life-changing opportunities for our children and our region.  

Executive Director -L. Kay Dixon  

L. Kay Dixon has proudly served public education for 35 years as an educator and leader in Kentucky schools. Kay began her role as Southeast/South-Central Educational Cooperative Executive Director in October of 2021. Before her work at SESC, Mrs. Dixon served as Superintendent of Barbourville Independent School. During her tenure as Superintendent, Barbourville was selected as a Shining Star district, and was twice recognized by U.S. News and World Report for recognition as one of the best high schools. Her career began as a classroom teacher in Knox County. Mrs. Dixon would later serve as a principal, District Improvement Coordinator and Region Service Center-KDE consultant before leaving the Knox County system and assuming a position as Instructional Supervisor at Barbourville Independent. While at Barbourville Independent she also served as Preschool Coordinator, Federal Programs Coordinator, District Assessment Coordinator, Professional Development and Gifted and Talented Coordinator. Mrs. Dixon is dedicated to public education and the SESC motto of improving and elevating educational excellence in our region.
