Southeast/South-Central Educational Cooperative

Autism Spectrum Disorder

The Kentucky Autism Training Center (KATC), along with the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) and the special education division of Kentucky’s educational cooperatives, provide learning opportunities to professionals and parents of students with autism. These opportunities are designed to increase the positive outcomes for learners with autism to become college and/or career ready by the time they exit their high school experience. An initiative that has been of benefit to local schools over the past four years is the establishment of “Training Sites”.  Schools have applied to participate, and if accepted, receive focused onsite technical assistance from KATC and SESC’s consultants to enhance the school personnel’s ability to serve students with autism. Selected schools participate in this cadre to learn more about state and federal initiatives and to share ideas for program implementation as well as growth and improvement.
