Writing Compliant IEPs-Virtual

July 23 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Join us to hear an experienced school board defense attorney talk about how to write legally defensible IEPs. Learn the importance of basing IEPs on data. Learn about IEP language that has led to controversy and litigation. Learn the importance of having documentation of PLEP areas and of keeping the PLEP updated. Hear about the importance of careful documentation of decisions made by the ARC. Hear about what the U.S. Department of Education, hearing officers, and the courts say about what the IEP is supposed to convey and guide. If your district/entity does not subscribe to the Fowler Bell PLLC IDEA, Section 504, and FERPA Legal Service for the 2020-21 school year and for the 2021-22 school year there will be a $200.00 charge for this 3 hour session. Currently, the districts that are not members of our coop are Barbourville and Whitley. EILA has been requested by the trainer.

SESC Event Cancellation Policy – In the event of inclement weather, SESC will cancel events based upon the cancellation of school by the county school district in which the event is to be held. For example, an event scheduled in Pineville Independent School District would be cancelled if school in Bell County School District was cancelled for the day. Please check media announcements for cancellation of school for inclement weather.
