Exploring Kentucky’s New Social Studies Standards and Inquiry Practices for High School

Join us as we explore the content and skills for teaching and planning for Kentucky’s new social studies standards. Work with grade-level peers to learn the structure, components, and instructional practices embedded in the standards document. Learn and explore ways to teach social studies using inquiry practices. Goals for the professional learning session are for participants to: • Do a deep dive into the content and skills in grade-level standards • Learn how to teach social studies topics using the inquiry cycle • Participate in social studies lessons that model inquiry practices • Leave with quality sites for finding lesson ideas and resources

SESC Event Cancellation Policy – In the event of inclement weather, SESC will cancel events based upon the cancellation of school by the county school district in which the event is to be held. For example, an event scheduled in Pineville Independent School District would be cancelled if school in Bell County School District was cancelled for the day. Please check media announcements for cancellation of school for inclement weather.
