| $35

FEE:  $35 per participant

The Southeast Southcentral Educational Cooperative is pleased to announce the second annual Poverty Institute – “Educating Children in Poverty – A Challenging Journey”. Please join us in a poverty simulation led by Dr. Kathleen S Cooter, Bellarmine University, and experience firsthand what it is like to live and try to survive in poverty. Participants will gain a personal understanding of poverty and explore and discuss strategies that districts and schools can utilize to positively impact poverty. Come listen to keynote speaker Aaron Thompson, who grew up in extreme poverty and learn what strategies he used to survive poverty and become an accomplished adult. Breakout sessions will be offered around Ruby Payne’s work of Understanding poverty and responding to students living in poverty in your schools and classrooms. Let’s learn together how to turn these stumbling blocks into stepping stones!
